Trips & courses

What's running, what comes back every year, and how to get on it.

Guided By Adventure runs a rolling calendar rather than a fixed catalogue — trips are announced in batches through the year, and a handful of favourites come back every season. Everything below is a real departure or a real recurring event.

Third weekend of June · Wells, BC

The Little Hiking Festival

A whole weekend of hiking, workshops, live music, a pancake breakfast and group yoga in a small Cariboo mountain town where the trailheads are minutes away. Hikes run at every fitness level; kids twelve and under go free.

Late January / early February · Wells, BC

Wells Snowshoe Festival

A weekend of snowshoeing built around the Cariboo Cup — a friendly 5 km or 10 km snowshoe race — plus a night-time walk under the stars, family games, a film night at the Sunset Theatre and a guided snowshoe on the Sunday. Proceeds go to the Wells and Area Trails Society.

June · Coffee Pot Mountain, Prince George

Wander Women — Brunch in the Bush

A deliberately unhurried mountain morning for women: a wander up Coffee Pot Mountain, forty-five minutes of alpine yoga, and a proper curated brunch at the top. Not a race, not a summit push.

Spring · Peachland, BC

Guided By Foundations — Trail Skills Day

A day of trip planning, Gaia GPS in real time, pacing and terrain awareness, plus a wildlife-awareness session with inert bear spray to practise on — wrapped around a good hike in the Peachland hills.

February · South Okanagan

Winter Camping & Travel Course

A three-part course: an evening classroom session, a field day, and an overnight winter camp. Layering systems, cold management, snowshoe technique, winter navigation and how to build a comfortable camp in the snow.

March · Martin’s Pass, above Wells BC

Winter Cabin Adventure

Snowshoe about 5 km to an off-grid cabin with six bunks and a wood stove. Build a quinzee, learn snow-structure safety and camp-kitchen setup. All food, guiding, cabin fees and snowshoes or cross-country skis included.

Outdoor education

Workshops you can book for a group.

The standard Outdoor Skills workshop runs about four hours and covers fire building with a flint, knots for shelters, tarps and food hangs, animal awareness, basic wilderness first aid, backcountry cooking, navigation and water purification. Longer and overnight formats are available.

  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding instruction
  • Outdoor & survival skills workshops
  • Gaia GPS and map-and-compass navigation
  • Avalanche training for snowshoers
